Bio
Jordan Dyer is a natural-born performer born and raised in Charleston, WV. His earliest endeavors as a toddler include leading praise services, organizing Motown shows, and putting on makeshift plays with his siblings, cousins, and friends. Jordan’s young spirit gravitated toward the church; he joined the youth choir at St. Paul AME Church and later learned to read and play piano. By age 13, he was the full-time musician and choir director.
Fresh out of high school, Jordan cut his teeth in Charleston's vibrant music scene. He frequently snuck into bars at 18 to perform with rock 'n' roll and country bands, being told to stay vigilant and escape through a back door if needed. After meeting Charleston area music engineer and performer Aaron Fisher, Jordan joined Luke White logging studio hours in Sissonville at Aaron's Fishbowl Recording Studio. His older cousin and mentor Mark Price, a well established and talented Charleston Artist, then took Jordan under his wing. Jordan became a Grooveheavy fill in before the cousins, along with Mike Davis & Tajae Mosley established FOURCHILL in 2022.
Jordan continued to broaden his horizons as a performer and bandmate, becoming a staple in Charleston's scene. A true working musician, he took jobs with everyone. From pop cover bands, to jazz, to band pits for musicals, to original Appalachian Rock, you could catch him several nights a week various genres, along with faithfully leading worship on Sundays. It wasn't until late 2023 that he formed his own trio, hoping to find his own personal voice and sound. With the help Luke White and Mark Price, the trio has become an established Charleston favorite, playing events like the Wine and Jazz Festival(2024), Clay Center's Emerging Artist Series, and Live on the Levee.
Jordan currently serves as Chief Musician at First Baptist church of Charleston, WV. Along with his Trio and solo endeavors, he is Bandleader of Cariño, the Charleston Salsa Club house band. A member of John Inghram Band, Hot Jazz of Charleston, Aaron Fisher and Ghost Fleet.
His music is a rich tapestry woven from gospel, soul, jazz, funk, R&B, rock 'n' roll, and blues, reflecting his deep-rooted connection to his upbringing. Influenced by icons like Prince, D'Angelo, Ray Charles, Robert Glasper, Thelonious Monk, Corey Henry, Toto, Phil Collins, Jacob Collier, and George Duke, Jordan's style is a dynamic fusion that prioritizes groove, improvisation, and genre experimentation.
